1a) TRAIL RIDING
1a) Trail Riding-no obstacles, no costume: Class will ride the course of the trail obstacle class (passing through flags), without doing the obstacles. Winner will be determined by rider who completes the course closest to the optimum time. Optimum time pace will be based on 160 mpm (combination of walk/trot).

1b) TRAIL RIDING
Trail Riding-no obstacles, WITH Costume class: Class will ride the course of the trail obstacle class (passing through flags), without doing the obstacles. Score will be determined by 50% costume (creativity, originality, presentation, workmanship and quality) and 50% completion of the course closest to the optimum time. Optimum time pace will be based on 160 mpm (combination of walk/trot).

2) TRAIL RIDING OBSTACLE CLASS
Trail Riding Obstacle class. Class will consist of 8-10 fun trail type obstacles (may include opening/closing rope gate, bridge, L-shaped pattern forward or backward, walk over pole or small log, move cup from one pole to another, etc. Class to be judged 50% on completion of obstacles and 50% closest to optimum time, calculated at 160mpm (combination of walk/trot)

3) TEAM TRAIL RIDING OBSTACLE
Team Trail Riding Obstacle class. Same description as class 2, but ridden as a team of 2 riders. Only one rider of each team must complete each obstacle. One rider may do all the obstacles or riders may choose to alternate doing obstacles at their discretion. Class to be judged 50% obstacles and 50% optimum time, calculated at 160mpm (combination of walk/trot).

4) LOW HUNTER PACE COURSE
Low Hunter Pace course. Class will consist of 6-8 jumps (approx. 1600 meters), 18"-2', to be ridden at 300 mpm (fast trot, slow canter). Class will be judged closest to the optimum time while clear over the obstacles.

5) SECOND ROUND LOW HUNTER
Second round low hunter pace. Same description as class 4, but must ride class 4 first. Class will be judged closest to the optimum time while clear over the obstacles.

6) TEAM LOW HUNTER PACE
Team low hunter pace. Class to be ridden as a team of 2 riders. Each rider may jump the obstacles, or one rider may jump and the second rider go around or any combination of jumping/non-jumping. Class judged only on optimum time, time taken when the second rider of the team crosses the finish.

7) HIGH HUNTER PACE COURSE
High hunter pace course. Class will consist of 6-8 jumps (approximately 1600 meters), up to 2'6" to be ridden at a pace of 400 mpm (hand gallop). Class will be judged closest to the optimum time while clear over the obstacles.

8) SECOND ROUND HIGH HUNTER
Second round high hunter pace. Same description as class 7, but must ride class 7 first. Class will be judged closest to the optimum time while clear over the obstacles.

9) TEAM HIGH HUNTER PACE
Team high hunter pace. Class to be ridden as a team of 2 riders. Each jump must be jumped by at least one member of the team. Class judged by closest to optimum time, while clear over the jumps. Time taken when the second rider of the team crosses the finish.

10) SYVH CLASSIC HUNT PACE
Santa Ynez Valley Hounds Classic Hunt Pace Challenge. This class to be ridden as a team of two riders to simulate riding as part of the hunt field. T o be ridden over a long track (approximately 3500-5000 meters) at a pace of 300 mpm. Course will include optional coop to jump. Riders not required to jump. Midway on the course, there will be a refreshment stop. Riders may sip on a beverage while answering 3 hunt trivia questions. Each correct answer will earn the team 2 bonus points.
